Never put off for tomorrow what you can do today.

I just got an email from my friend Kim. She titled the email "Does Baby C Know how to swim?".

Of course I just assumed that she was about to enroll her daughter in swim classes and just wanted to discuss the entire adventure such as pricing, swim suits, doing it in the summer vs winter etc...you know stuff women yack on and on about!!!

But when I opened the email she wrote: "This is without a doubt, The MOST Incredible video I have seen.!!! How did they hold the mom back to do this!!?" From these few words I knew I had to be prepared and I knew there was a great likely hood that I would end up sitting at my desk at work, crying my eyes out....and of course I was right.

I had inquired about swimming classes for Baby C before she could even walk, as I heard that was the best time to start. But when I called the class was full and then seasons changed to winter and it got put to the back of my mind.

I feel guilty now, as I'm quite aware of how important knowing how to swim is. It's one of the most important skills in life that can result in dire consequences for living or dying. Back in England it was a required class for me in primary school, it was a mandatory part of our education from around age 7. Every Tuesday or Thursday we would all stomp on the school bus for swim class...but yet instill here I am procrastinating.

Well after watching this video it's impossible to procrastinate any more, this truely is a "prevention" video, please pass it on and make sure you turn on your speakers:

The strangest part is I can't even bring myself to watch the video a second time, even though I know what happens.

** 3/3/08 Just signed Baby C up for swimming instruction she starts April 2nd!!! Woo hoo!!!

  1. wow, that's a pretty amazing video. neither of my kids know how to swim, but they will both be taking lessons this year. I feel like I've slacked on it too, especially with Jake, he's almost 5! The boy should know how to at least float, right?!

  2. Oy. I cannot even bring myself to click on it to watch! MAckie is never near the water - pool, beach, etc without someone with her. But yeah, we have put off swim lessons due to the cost :( I promised her she could take lessons and I really know how important that is!

  3. OH MY GOSH!!! I wasn't really sure what to expect when I started reading this post. And then, when I started the video, my heart sank and my hand immediately went to my mouth in shock/nervousness. I couldn't even IMAGINE something like this. But what an amazing demonstration. What those people teach is pretty impressive.

My Jayla is 6 and she doesn't know how to swim, but LOVES the water. Wow, talk about something to think about....

  4. Is that your hand I see on Baby C's leg? LOL I never let go of my kids or grandkids around water and everyone wears a vest on the boat. It is embarrassing to tell that I had to be saved by a lifeguard in the local pool when I was almost 10.

  5. OMG at first I was a wreck watching that video. But I think that Infant swimming is a great thing to do. I need to go and enroll Anthony in a class right now. Since Whit. is taking classes.

  6. South Mountain! That's here, where I am!! And I will be signing my kids up ASAP.

I was like, "OMGosh, what is that baby doing?!?" How amazing. I am always shocked to find out that kids younger than mine can swim and most kids in AZ learn how to swim at very young ages, simply to survive the summers here.

    Thanks for the video!

    :)

  7. Ava will be in swimming lessons this summer. She would have started at age 2, but she has tubes in both ears, and I was scared of her having potential probelms if water got in then. But the tubes are gone and she is getting in the water. She love the water, so it's a must.
