Dear Mummy

Your grand daughter had her first swimming class last night and did remarkably well. She cried for the first 10 minutes and kept turning her head looking for us, but after that she relaxed, had fun and was playing with her instructor Kristen.

Of course ALL the way home she kept asking after Kristen and kept telling us she went swimming with Kristen.

She's a brave little girl! If you put me in a bathing suit, dropped me into the arms of some stranger in a swimming pool, walked off out of sight without the knowledge that you're coming back with a bunch of kids splashing about...... I would have freaked personally!!!

  1. I love this blog; the photos are precious. Your final paragraph made me laugh; we don't often think of the tot's-eye-view of things. How often are they thinking "what the heck is THIS, now?!!"

  4. Teeny kids swimming make me so happy! She's a brave little tiger, that's for sure. I love that she kept saying she went swimming with Kristen. So sweet. I find that kids who started swimming early have great confidence.

  5. that is so cool that you put her in swim class while she's young. They really have no fear at that age, and they catch on so fast. Jaree is a better swimmer than I am, and she learned while she was young. But, Baptiste taught all of our children to swim. I can swim, but I can't teach....LOL Luckily I have a husband who knows what he is doing...LOL

  9. Jennifer you're a mess and I love you for that...you say it like it is!!

But if anything she'd have been more taken a back had I dropped her into the arms of a black lady!!! Her teachers at day care are all black, there's only two little black boys at her day care and they come part time so they're hardly ever there so they don't count....she basically the token black at day care and they're fascinated by her, her skin, her hair you name it, it all in love though, they love her to death and from looking at the pictures of all the kids that have graduated from the day care I don't see that they have EVER had a black girl there so she's a first to them in many ways.

The other day they had to braid her afro puffs because all her class mates kept bothering her trying to touch and feel them and play with them...I thought she'd better get used to it now as sometimes depending on the circles you travel in it never stops!!! LOL

  12. What a big girl Baby C was. I am sure it was a bit scary at first.

It is best for them to learn at a young age. keep up the good work Baby C.

  13. Great memory in the making. You did the right thing by making her take lessons. I love the water, but still don't know how to swim. I try. She'll appreciate all of this one day!! Have a great weekend.

  14. I think you're a brave mom. I never did the baby swim lessons because my heart just couldn't stand it! She certainly seemed to enjoy the lessons, though! She'll probably be half fish by summertime!

Do you ever go down to Montouk? We have been there several times and just had a ball!
    God bless!
