Sitting

I'm sitting in the ER of the same hospital I gave birth to Baby C. I'm waiting on Big C. He's had a lower abdominal pain for about a week now but didn't want to come in in case his colonoscopy got rescheduled because of it, which it probably would have.

His colonoscopy and endoscopy went well yesterday, he looked weak and tired afterwards but continued with his continuous jokes the minute the anesthesia wore off. The nurse gave him a cranberry juice (he had to fast the entire day before) and he asked if they had any vodka to go with it!!!

They found a Polyp and removed it while they did the colonoscopy and they're sending it away for testing. Of course I freaked out until I googles colon polyps while I waited for the doctor to come and explain it all to me.

I realized once again how technology has changed our lives, when i was able to whip out my iPad, connect to the free wifi, and google colon polyps quicker than the doctor could make it to our room to give his layman explanation of it all. But he did provide interesting information about the fact that Russian and African Americans are recommended to get colonoscopy earlier than other ethnicities.

After the procedure the doctor said 'You can start eating again but start with water and take it light.'. Translated in Big C's head that meant that spicy dynamite shrimp from Applebees was 'taking it light'! (Men where they just born stubborn?)

So anyway here I am again. I'm honestly hoping that the abdominal pain he's feeling it merely kidney stones again. He had his first episode of kidney stones this past summer with similar knife stabbing dull pains. And though it wasn't a walk in the park, it was at least easily detected and treated.

I'm wondering what he'll want to go and eat after this adventure.

I feel bad for Big C all of this has to take a toll on one mentally along with physically. It feels as soon as one thing dies down another flares up. I'm getting ready to submit his case to that tv show 'Mystery Diagnosis'!! Lol

I'm hesitant to run to the car to get quarters for a drink scared that they'll call me to the back, I'm scared to go to the restroom or to get something to eat knowing the minute I leave they'll call my name. I feel tethered to the seat but yet I know I wouldn't have it any other way.

  4. I didn't know that Russians and African Americans needed to have colonoscopys earlier. That's something to remember. I'm glad that the proceedures went well and hopefully the doctors will tell you soon what's wrong. Hopefully it is something like kidney stones, not at all pleasant but not anything worse to worry about. Will most certainly be thinking of you guys. I know the feeling of being too scared to go to the bathroom incase they call your name and you're not there! xx
