Time escaped me once again, life just got in the mix and here I am again trying to catch up on my blog...
Another Uncle died, what is it they say about deaths coming in 3's. Uncle Lou was the last brother my mother had, now all four of her brothers have passed. I'm an only child but has to be weird to only have 3 sisters left when there was once 8 of you. Uncle Lou lead a good long life and in a sad twist of fate his death reunited two sides of a family.
Circa 1950's Cuba.
Baby C had "The Week of the Young Child" again I've honestly enjoyed these weeks at a day care, 2010 was great, 2011 so far even better, sad to think this will be her last chance to experience it.

Hop to it!! - The Children will learn what makes a rabbit a rabbit, compare, observe and learn how to care for them ~ Presented by Cornell University
They made the cutest bunny boxes when they were done.

All Day Event - Traveling around the world, the children will visit different countries, France, Italy, China, Africa, Brazil and many more.
I didn't really get any pictures from this event but at lunch I asked her how the day was going and she only commented that they hadn't done England yet where Nanny's from and she was very disappointed! LOL
Wednesday, April 13th 2011 Hop-A-Thon - All the Children will be hopping for MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association).
Baby C had to make sure she wore the correct hopping outfit!
The actual Hop-A-Thon
The all received the cutest prize for hopping so well.
The entire group and their prizes!
Baby C's parents were really good at this one, the day care raised a total of $390 for MDA and $185 of that came from Baby C alone!!! We're practicing for catholic kindergarten where it seems fund raising on a weekly basis is all the rage!!!

Carnival - Games, Tattoos, Face Painting etc.
They were clamoring at the fence to get into the carnival
They started off with the parachute
What kid doesn't love to be under the parachute
Then they moved on to bowling
Excitement all around!
Next up was the customary tattoo
Of course a butterfly signifies it's Spring!
What would a carnival be without face painting
A beautiful flower.
Being allowed to "throw" the bean bags is always great!
Balance beam attraction
And you can't leave without carnival goodies!
I think her smile about sums up the day!
This entire carnival was put together by the teachers in the childrens normal play area, I think they did a fantastic job and the children were so excited you'd think they'd truly been whisked away to a magic land.

Ice Cream party and a drive in movie!
I did wonder how they'd create the drive in effect and I think the teachers did rather well.
I couldn't believe how quiet these children were in these boxes!
Watching Tinkerbell!
Even the director joined in!
They really ended the week on a fantastic note!
During my 24 dag blog sabbatical, I fell in love....
Starbucks Tazo® Shaken Iced Passion Tea Lemonade
And we celebrated my Aunts birthday.....nothing fancy just Applebees merely because I wanted to see the look on her face when they came out shouting that obnoxious Happy Birthday song!!! Of course she loved it!!!
And to end my sabbatical, on the spur of the moment last Friday after work Baby C and I drove to the NYC and caught a movie and then went out for bite to eat at Cosi, she was thrilled to get her own oven pizza brought to her on a wooden palate. It was the perfect late night city atmosphere and vibe, just the two of us. We hung out in the city until 9pm which was last for us on Friday with no planning!!
Oh I just love it! Esp the video, super cute. The kids were so excited and honestly, I have so much respect for dedicated teachers. I know for a fact I couldn't do it!
I'm sorry to hear about your uncle. I cannot imagine how your mum must feel, I've got four siblings and I would hate to loose any of them...as much as they might drive me crazy at times. Do you want siblings for baby C?
@Shermeen, I have a 14 year old step daughter but she just moved to NC so technically she has siblings...but yes I would love for her to NOT be an only child on a daily basis.
I'm sure if you guys decide to have another child in the future baby C would make a wonderful older sister. Its great for children to have siblings close to their age but either way, from watching the video, I can tell she has great social skills. She seems to be really popular with her friends xx
i am sorry for your loss. just having lost a sister recently, i can attest that it is weird to only have one left when there were two. baby c is too cute! passion tea lemonade is the best tea ever!
We too are losing family members right and left and it is such a difficult time as we recall the significance of each in our lives. I do fee for you and your family.
Oh how I love the Tales Of Baby C. That child has facial expressions that tell the story quite clearly. She is also quite a hopper but I must say that I did see a few skipping steps slip into her routine:) It is important that she did realize a proper hopping outfit is necessary. Thanks for sharing.
i love the shaken ice teas at starbucks too, the black lemonade is my fav :) What a busy week for baby c :) I haven't used any of the shampoos from carol's daughter yet. I am loving organix Moroccan oil shampoo right now! have a great weekend!!
Love the video and the hopping babies. Sorry about your uncle too. I pray that your family is well and that your hearts are healed from the pain of loss very soon.
My condolences for your family and all the losses you've experienced lately.
Looks like Baby C had a great time with her "week of the young child". Love all the interactive experiences and the picture of them sitting in boxes was adorable.
How cool the two of you were able to do a girls getaway. I wish NYC was close enough for us, there are so many things you can do there.
and lastly, yep with private school- go ahead and get in fund raising mode becuase it's none stop :) We tend to do a lot of volunteering to help offset our contributions.

ReplyDeleteSounds like Baby C has had a busy week! We also had the MDA Hopathon!
ReplyDeleteI made baskets with my scrapbook club and because they told everyone else I have to make them with my entire class tomorrow LOL.
I'm sorry about your uncle. My mother was the youngest of 10 and was the last surviving sibling.
Found another book for you: Black All Around by Patricia Hubbell.
Have a great weekend!
I love the way you dress Baby C
