Fire Island

We all took the ferry over to Fire Island this memorial weekend. We'd never been before but were interested in camping there so we wanted to see what it was like in general.

The ferry ride was beautiful, not too long and not too short. Baby C loved seeing the water crash against the side of the ferry and off course waving to every solitary person who even looked her way!!!

The actual island is traversed via bikes and radio flyer carts and that's it!! I LOVE IT! Smog free fun time had by all!!

Baby C finally found her love of sand and like all other babies decided to eat it no matter how nasty it taste!

Just as we were packing up to leave 3 wild deer came prancing across the beach. I was so totally stunned and shocked that they would come that close that I didn't have my camera out. Baby C couldn't figure out what they were, why there were hear or what to do about it! It was hilarious!

Ok here we go with this sand thing again

Hmm let me think for a minute

OK 05be if I touch it then we can go home!

05be if I get a little closer!

I thought we said just touching was enough!

How the heck am I going to get out of this?

I guess it's not that bad after all!

To get to the beach you had to walk down what felt like little tree lined pedestrian avenues it was so blissful:

I'd love to hear what everyone else did on memorial weekend. Let me know if you blogged about it.

  1. I love the bows on the beach! She look so stylish and comfortable, love it! It rained in our part of Texas ALL weekend so I made a list of activities to stretch the three days. We ate holiday food (burgers, fries and bar-b-cue beans), played Memory with Dora cards, painted crafts, watched only Monster, Inc and Lion King again, read books and played Crazy Eights. Overall a fun indoor weekend!

  3. What great pix! I've never heard of the island ya'll went to. But it looks like ya'll had a wonderful time.

Ya know, we did NOTHING!!! And that's exactly what we wanted to do! We've been ripping and running EVERY weekend since the end of February (for soccer)...so we were glad to have a free weekend. Hubby grilled on Friday and Saturday (steaks & chicken) and I made a few sides. Dinner was yummy and the weekend was very relaxing.

Thanks for sharing your pix. Courtney is such a cutie. Love those cute little legs.

  4. What a wonderful way to spend the day! I am just a tad envious! Those pictures are way too cute! I love the ones with her covered in sand!

On Memorial Day we met friends for lunch then had our family over for a little dinner. IT was Dan's BD on Sunday so we celebrated that with them. Went to the little park behind us after dinner and watched the kids play and the boys throw a baseball.

Just quiet and nice. The weather was really nice in the evening.

A day at the beach sounds so mice. I am glad you had fun!

    Hugs,
    Sue
