On April 2nd it will be 12 months since Baby C's first swim class and I am sooo impressed with how far she's come. Even other mothers around me comment on how good she is for being so young (she's still 2 about to turn 3 next month).
While other mothers are still wrestling with their child to even get in the pool, other mothers beg their kids to put their face in the water or at least get their face wet, and other mothers just cover their face as their child screams at the top of their lungs.
I've been truly blessed with a child that doesn't even know how to swim WITHOUT putting her head in the water. They're going to have to teach her how to breath to one side really soon. She's even using her arms and bringing them fully out of the water with nearly each stroke and can now get herself in and out of the pool.
For those that remember those days of swim classes you'll all know how hard each of these feats are...for the longest time Baby C's arms weren't even strong enough to pull herself out of the pool. We'd watch her struggle and struggle to get those little elbows far enough on the edge of the pool to pull her body weight out.
Now I'm so proud of her:
I almost cried watching her!!! I am so proud of her too! That is wonderful and she was so confident even getting out of the pool by herself. You and Cornbread are great parents for helping her accomplish this so young in her life!
ReplyDeleteI think this is the little girl from Atlantis. She doesn't even come up for air.
ReplyDeleteI'm struggling to learn the front crawl. Can hardly keep my face in the water or lift my arms out. She's great.
OMG Mel. She is wonderful. I agree with Kansas Queen I wanted to cry. I haven't signed Baby A. up for anymore classes but seeing her makes me know that I need to get him back into a class.
ReplyDeleteI see why you are so proud of her. :)
BTW. I am so glad you blogged I have been wondering where you were.
Wow, that made ME feel all bursty with pride, I can't imagine how you must feel! (I'll admit I held my breath with her, while I watched!)
ReplyDeleteYou have every right to be proud of her! I am too! My girl has no fear of water .. which is why i've got to teach her to swim STAT.
ReplyDeleteThe grandma in me was smiling with pride as Baby C made it to the edge of the pool, up and out like a pro. I remember when she started her lessons and it seemed like only a couple of months ago. Thanks for sharing that great video.
ReplyDeleteThat is sooo awesome! She is sooo good. I know you are soo proud!
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOODNESS SHE IS ADORABLE!! Seriously, she is a cutie pie! I can't believe how well she can swim. She can probably lap me!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Baby C! I know you are proud.
ReplyDeleteThat is AWESOME!!! I love the look on her face when she comes out of the water :-).
ReplyDeleteJayla starts swimming lessons next month. YES, I KNOW she's 7! :-)
Keep up the good work, Baby C!
Look at her! I can see why you'd be so proud. Who wouldn't?
ReplyDeleteAdorable. She'll be diving and flipping off the diving board in no time-lol.
ReplyDeleteCongrats!
that's wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHey girl, Well lmk when you get those 2 goals accomplished lol I'm having one of my "fat" days today lol So I need to get back to working out lol So cute the lil' one is swimming!
ReplyDeleteA future olympian! I love to see kids enjoy sports. Swimming is mandatory to be taught in schools here in Sweden. Somehow, my daughter transferred from a public to a private school and the rule does not apply for her now, :(
ReplyDeleteGo Baby c!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOK, that is really amazing! Research says that kids don't really learn how to swim until AFTER they turn 3, or so I'm told. That's great. She's a little fish! Jada's not scared at all of the water will just jump in the deep end, but can't swim a lick. She'll start her lessons this spring, and this gives me so much hope!!!!
