There wasn't such a term as a "playdate" not sure if it's because of growing up in the UK or I'm just showing the world my age right about now.
But whatever it is, I must say I love the term. It makes things so much easier. I mean this way you don't have to spend countless hours getting to really know the parent BEFORE inviting the child over to your house. This way you really kill two birds with one stone, the kids get to play AND you get to spend hours getting to know if you like the parent well enough that you want to do this AGAIN!!!
Plus you don't have to worry if your house is adequate enough to have company to begin with. I totally get a complex about our house. Yes people say all the time how comfortable, relaxing, and cozy it is, but I know deep down it's small as heck and could do with so much more time put into it. But it's ours and deep down I know that's all that should matter.
Any how, before Baby C was born I worked at this tiny worthless company, ooops did I say that...sorry I could hit the delete button but oh well. I mean it wasn't worthless but it was run by two "micro-manager-tyrant-brothers" and that's all I'll say to that.
Anyway I digress, I met my wonderful friend Rebecca at this "Tyrant Sweat Shop" and we've been friends ever since, though we both kissed the place good bye once our children were born, and yes we were pregnant at the same time, which the "micro-manager-tyrant-brothers" also hated (but hey you reap what you sow).
So here we are many moons later and Rebecca and I still get the kids together a few times a year to let out steam and watch grow up.
I simply love seeing how they're growing at differing speeds. M on the left is 8, they are only now starting to worry about her growth, but I'm sure it will all even out in the end, Baby C is 4 about to turn 5, and L on the right just turned 4.
This time around it was Rebecca's brilliant idea to take them to the local Childrens Museum, this was them about to get on the "play-climbing-I'm-going-to-wear-your-kids-out-so-they-go-to-bed-early-thing", except my daughter was too scared to go on it! ughh
i love playdates! in fact, my kids are on one right now and i have the house to myself! i should probably clean it!
ReplyDeletePlaydates are fun! I personally prefer the ones where we can drop our kids off and come back in 2 hours! What? Don't judge me :-)
ReplyDeleteNever heard of "play dates" when my children were small.
ReplyDeleteI love Playdates and my kid does too! Great way for them to learn some social interaction. I also love the "heart Peace" shirt your little one has on. My munchking would give her right arm for one of those!! LOL!!
