A Letter to My Baby Girl

Dear Baby Girl,

You've hit a milestone in my heart and for that I'm eternally grateful and proud.

You spent your cherished day besotted by family and friends and blessed ten fold.

When you woke wiping the sleep from your eyes, a splendid site did you see, a beautiful table filled with bright delights, your mouth open in awe.

Mother and Daughter brushed those five year old teeth and as a melody spun around in your head I zipped up the back of your party dress.

A friend you've literally known from birth was your first guest, and you greeted him with a coy smile and giddy anticipation.

Sat legs behind you, you both grinned and chuckled, bottled memories only a mother saves away for another day.

Your shyness bellows when all eyes are on you, and yet you long for it, and there you were, not knowing quite what to do as the house quickly filled.

And as I stood watching over the little circle you'd all made to play, my heart fluttered and nearly skipped a beat.

The journey of the day gave way to you eating little, drinking a lot and beaming in abundance as you bounced high trying to touch the clouds.

And when the day slowly closed you tired little and undoubtedly dreamed the sweetest dreams.

As I kneeled next you listening to you breath, short sweet puffs of air, I exhaled "You'll always be my little girl".

Love you always,

Mama
