We meant to have left over Indian food from Mothers Day for dinner last night.
But as with all Indian left overs you always get sent home with all your food except for the rice!
We went to Trader Joe's to pick up more organic basmati and got caught in the vortex of "what new stuff do they have that I want to try"....
We only went for rice and left with Orange Chicken, Dark Chocolate Honey Mints, Dark Chocolate Coconut Mango Bites, Garlic Naan bread and the organic basmati rice.
Along the way to the checkout we tried, Pineapple Mango Juice and Roasted Peppers with Sausage.
Once again I'm convinced that America's trying to kill you guys (yes when America is doing something bad I'm British and I'm no longer included so my sentences become "you guys". Big C and I find this stance hilarious in my every day talk)....anyway I digress the Pineapple Mango Juice while wonderfully refreshing had 29 grams of sugar in an 8 ounce glass. While I'm sure much of it comes from natural fruit it still seems beyond absurd.
Anyway.... an hour later we finally left Trader Joe's with not even the energy to go home and cook basmati rice....I mean who has the stomach to wait 45 minutes for rice to cook honestly!
So we flipped a coin between Thai and Japanese. I wanted the Thai, I was craving big pad Thai noodles with peanuts and peanut sauce (which Big C hates), Big C wanted Japanese, he just likes the sensation of the wasabi burning his nostril hairs and making his brain go dizzy. Baby C wanted neither she wanted the new organic burger place that just opened up called BurgerFi.
Japanese won the coin toss and Baby C amazed me with how easily she masted chop sticks. She doesn't hold them far up yet but she's completely comfortable and thankfully for her she doesn't like rice anyway so she didn't get frustrated at all.
I think the chop sticks alone will have her asking to go back.
I must say that I admire Baby C (of course I always have) for mastering the chop sticks. My family ridicules me for not even trying. Yea Baby C!!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that always the way at Trader Joe's?! I never leave with "what i went in there for". Yesterday I went in there for Orange Juice and Challah bread (for french toast today) and left with that + coconut oil, mozzarella sticks, and a bunch of other stuff! I didn't see the pinapple juice but that sounds good! At least with TJ's...they only use pure cane sugar in their items (as far as I know) and that's better than refined sugar and HFCS. Yes, I'm trying to see the bright side of the 28 grams of sugar LOL!
ReplyDeleteTrader Joes, yes. We all get sucked in. Sean LOVES those honey mints. I have to hide them from the kids. :D If you have an EarthFare up there, give it a peek. They have some AMAZING deals. Especially their family meal night. :D:D
