Survivor Season started at Last!

So the new season of survivor finally started and what an experiment!! Of course C and I started to argue right from the start. He had his sticking points like..."Why does the African American team have only two males and all the other teams have 3 males?" and me "I hope that guy really doesn't have a headache any more other wise he's going to walk around looking like a complete idiot with that big red bruise!".

This season should be interesting to say the least....I think all the hype might be justified for once and I am glad that CBS decided to go out on a limb and test the waters so to speak, about time that someone did.

I think it's interesting that GM is no longer providing a car for the big reward challenges...I have no clue what that's all about so I'll save judgment on the issue until I read up about it.

But dividing tribes into races is a thought provoking experiment...I mean how many stereotypes will it continue to fuel, and how many will die out.

Did everyone expect the African American team to grab all the chickens and have them fried by the time night fell?? (LOL)

Was anyone surprised by the Hispanic member who commented on his family fleeing a remote island in a small boat and here he was, rowing towards a remote island on a raft?? (LOL)

How about the Asian-American with his joke about, "What do you call a Vietnamese with lots of dogs?" (LOL)

Well all I can say is I can't wait to see the drama unfold and know that, to some degree this show truly is a mere representation of the race relations that surround us day by day, at least in the GOOD OLD US of A!!!

  1. I was thinking of you as I watched. . .

I feel bad for the "Asian" group because "Asian" is such a disparate group - I mean, Korean and Filipino are very different cultures.

The same might be said for the Lation group.

Someone I know said, well, white people come from all kinds of backgrounds, and my reply was - whatever, they are all white americans, they can bond over not being made to wait to be served at a restaurant or something. . . ;)

  2. How interesting and brave of CBS. Wish I was there to see it. What I'm curious about is if any class issues (within the racially divided groups) arise? And is the African American group all American or are there any West Indians (who are now American citizens)? And yeah, like Anoymous says, unless there is a recent white immigrant to the US, I kinda think of white America as the same...sorry!!PLEASE keep us/me posted!

  3. I wonder why you want people to respond to your blog so much, but then you never acknowledge them with comments on the comments? :P

  5. So someone asked why I don't respond to the comments on my blog...I guess the answer would be because I'd never seen anyone do it before!!!

I wish there was a way to respond and have a breadcrumb trail so you could see which one I'm responding to...that would be neat, like on Live Journal.

By the way O you're so right about the Asian group it seems the most unfair group to me in that respect.
