One of the best weekend in two years!

Yes I just said that...and yes it has been that long! I woke up at 6AM on Saturday morning and slide silently out of bed. I tip toed across the bedroom floor praying that Big C and mostly Baby C wouldn't awaken.

I pulled the coffee grinder out from under the counter and blew off the dust. Then I threw in a load of laundry and sat on the front porch with some iced coffee and a scrapbooking magazine. It was beautiful watching the sun glide into the upper most spot in the sky and not a soul in sight!

I ran to the basement, still terrified that the moment would end, and hurriedly grabbed card supplies and once back on the porch, I began to make a belated birthday card.

HOURS later, Big C and Baby C finally emerged onto the porch both showered, dressed and fed and announced they were running to the store to buy some items for my sister in law and would return shortly!

I was elated! Not only had I slide out of bed for hours of solitude but now the solitude would continue for who knows how long!

I knew we had a confirmation party to attend around 2:30pm but that still gave me practically ALL day to do whatever I wanted....I was so excited I think I went into shock!

The entire weekend followed the same suite...I'd slip out of bed, head for the porch and the two others would join me HOURS later all washed, dressed and fed.

I got SOOO much done this weekend and I had to constantly remind myself to leave household chores alone and just do whatever "I" wanted to do with my time. (Of course I was hard to not throw in loads of laundry in between) but for the most part I complied and I had the best weekend I've had in YEARS!

Most of the time it's usually just me and Baby C and it feels like the weekend never begun or ended, it's like it's just one long roller coaster with no exit!!

I know many parents reading this feel my pain! You enjoy being a parent but you have no idea what a free moment feels like until you finally have one and this weekend I got HOURS of free moments and it felt great!!!

As you all know the weather was beautiful this weekend with clouds here and there but there was still enough sun for Baby C to run through the lawn sprinkler and have a grand old time. It wasn't really hot enough for swim suits but hot enough for that spontaneous water fun!

  1. I get it! And I know that whole "cherish it while you have it" thing, too.

  2. I know EXACTLY what you are getting at. The worst thing I struggled/struggle with is "mommy guilt".
I have to force myself to remember that to be a good Mommy I have to take care of ME too.

  7. TITLE: BECAUSE YOU CHERISH
You cherish your time with Baby C and Daddy C and you cherish your time alone. It seems you cherish your life and every turn and inspire us all.

  8. Hmmm, I've heard of moments like this...but I can't say I've ever really had one. Maybe, it's just been so long, I don't remember. Another thing I can't remember is the last time I was actually in MY OWN house totally ALONE! Isn't that a shame? I wouldn't know how to act if I had the ENTIRE house to myself!

Oh well, when I do have the privilege of experiencing "Dawn time" (outside of riding in my car alone), I'll be sure to do a post about it :-).

    Enjoy your weekend.
