Did anyone watch any movies over the holidays and would like to warn against or recommend them?
Last night I spent an hour or more of my life that I can NEVER get back watching "The Strangers".
I really like Liv Tyler and I thought I'd like this movie, but I was sadly mistaken.
It's a horror movie that I made Big C restart maybe THREE times because each time it was just too dark outside for me to watch it...I was terrified after the first few scenes each and every time.
We finally sat down to watch it on a bright sunny sunday afternoon and while I was still gripping the edge of my seat for most of the movie the ending was sooo piss poor that it ruined the entire thing.
So I give "The Strangers" thumbs down and half a star! LOL

"There is only one sin, only one. And that is theft. Every other sin is a variation of theft... When you kill a man, you steal a life. You steal his wife's right to a husband, rob his children of a father. When you tell a lie, you steal someone's right to the truth. When you cheat, you steal the right to fairness. "
I give "The Kite Runner" thumbs up and a million stars!
So what movie(s) did you see?
Does it get a thumbs up or down?
How many stars does it get?
P.S. Christmas dinner was fantastic, final tally was 42 people, I doubled up on all the food and we had a duplicate spread of food upstairs and downstairs in the basement! We had "The Dark Knight" playing simulcast in the living room and basement and many family members were left stumbling a little as Nanny put a drop too much port in the Sorrel! LOL
I was very disappointed in THE DARK KNIGHT and BURN BEFORE READING.
ReplyDeleteINNOCENT VOICES made up for everything. If you an take the drama you will absolutely love this foreign film and will not even notice that you are reading subtitles.
I've never had Sorrell. Thx for the link to learn about it!
ReplyDeleteKite Runner looks good. I'd like to read the book first though.
No, didn't see any movies but those on Hallmark channel which were fun and mushy.
Happy new Year to you, Muffin.
Strangers was filmed here in our town, but I heard it was pretty much a stinker. So sorry!
ReplyDeleteThe Strangers was actually filmed in the little bitty town I am from. THAT is reason enough for me to never watch it.
ReplyDeleteThe Kite Runner, well, I read the book and liked it much better. However, for a book turned movie, they did a pretty good job of keeping it close to the original.
As for movies over the holidays, it was pretty much the same old stuff we always watch.
:)
Glad you had a good Christmas. 42!!!! Amazing. Hope you used paper plates!
ReplyDeleteThe Kite Runner sounds good, haven't heard of it, thanks, will keep an eye out.
Wow..was the movie really that bad? Honestly I had never even heard of it. I haven't watched any movies lately.. =(
ReplyDeleteWe went and saw Bedtime Stories. It wasn't the best movie I've ever seen, but it was cute. I thumbs-up any movie that doesn't leave me feeling like I've wasted my time or, worse, my money. Other than that, we just watched a lot of football.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear Christmas turned out well. 42 people? You rock!
