Banking Industry are thieves and BJ's vs Costco???

Anyone out there work for the banking industry, can you tell me why when I swipe my bank card it takes you about 5 seconds to remove the money from my account but when I turn around and return the item within seconds, it takes minimum of 24 hours, sometimes a week to get my money back?

It's Big C's birthday in a few days and I went to buy him the new iPod classic. First I went to BJ's and picked up that big old piece of cardboard that they have out on the floor with the picture of your Ipod on it, that you then have to take and get scanned and pay for before you finally pick up your merchandise.

So I scanned and paid for it and when I went to the merchandise pick up they said they didn't have any left.

I wanted to spew all manner of obscenities at the lady such as "Well why the hell is the cardboard cutout available for me to pick up on the floor if you don't have it in stock? It's not like the item was stolen as you don't have them on the floor". "Or why when it was scanned at the cashier didn't it flag that you don't have any!" "Or why after you took my money, then turned around and said "Oh sorry we don't have it" can't you give my money back immediately".

But with age has come wisdom and I now know that the people that work behind the desk are just robots and can only do what is asked of them, and nothing more. They are not trained to have reason, or make changes when reasoning is lacking, they are not trained to even apologize on behalf of their company....they're just happy to have a job and that's where it begins and ends.

After the lady at BJ's processed the return, for an item that I didn't even have TO return, (go figure that one out), I asked her how long it would take to credit to my account as I now wanted to take my business else where, namely Costco right across the street.

I was told it will take a minimum of 24 hrs! So I couldn't literally go across the street and buy another iPod with said money, unless it took me a minimum of 24 hours to cross the darn street.!!!

I wish Michael Moore would do a documentary on this, I'd love to see him walking across the street with his BJ's IOU in hand to buy something at Costco...I mean he could reassure Costco that BJ's is a reputable company and that he's sure they'll honor the IOU!!

Even better yet, I can see Michael Moore now in my fantasy documentary, waiting at the corner of BJ's for 24 hours before he even crossed the street!!!

So I had to use my credit card to buy the ipod from Costco, and now once the money is credited to my account I'll have to turn around and send a check to my credit card to pay for the purchase, one more unnecessary and inconvenient step if you ask me.

The only grace I see from this is that the ipod was $15 cheaper at Costco then BJ's....but by the time all is said and done I'm sure it will cost everyone involved more than $15 worth of work!

I can see some fat cat banker sitting there smoking a cigar calculating all the interest they'll make on keeping my and others money over night and it truly disgusts me!

  1. Yes they are quick to take your dosh but not keen to give it back!

What a rubbish sales system. I'd write and complain about it and tell them I'd never shop there again.

I like Argos here, where you can check out which is the nearest shop with stock (actual stock not cardboard bits), reserve an item online and then hop in to collect it. It saves so much time especially at Christmas when you can be wandering round trying to find who has stock at the cheapest price.
