Puerto Rico and Paris

Puerto Rico was beautiful this time around. I'm not sure it was due to not having the stress of worrying about Big C and Baby C or because I got to see sides of Puerto Rico I hadn't seen before on two previous visits.

I had no idea that the back streets of Old San Juan looked so much like the streets of Paris, the colors and the feel were mesmerizing, every corner I turned I was waiting for a small bakery to appear and the smell of pain du chocolat to waft out.

I never knew a cold could develop so quickly during a plane ride. My throat didn't hurt at all but the entire trip I had NO voice. The locals told me to take shots of good rum and that it would clear the bacteria out of my throat. I did as I was told and tried. My voice came back for about 30 minutes then disappeared, but I sure felt good!!! LOL

I never knew that the Bacardi family and rum started in Cuba.

I never knew how much Spanish I "didn't" know.
I got to ride the bus from Carolina to Old San Juan for 75 cents, it took an hour but it was a beautiful experience.

The beach of course was beautiful and so relaxing.

I found the hotel that I'd like to stay at the next time I come to visit El Convento, the place is just breath taking.

We were lucky to have been in Old San Juan during the San Juan International Artisan’s Fair which was an eclectic event. We'd some how managed to rent a car for the day for $49 so we were able to spend all day at the fair and experience all the food they had to offer.

The directions from google maps and from the hotel totally sucked. They'd tell you which highway to go on but never tell you north or south!!!!

Of course on the way back from Old San Juan we got completely LOST and stopped to ask the policia for directions. Either they spoke very little English, or us very little Spanish or they just felt sorry for us as they ended up giving us a lights flashing escort all the way home!!!

While in Puerto Rico I found a small guitar for Baby C and of all things an Indian Barbie!

Even though I had an amazing time I am very ready to leave and get home to Big and Baby C later on this evening, I'm eager to get back and book another trip so that next time they can enjoy what I have come to love.
