Pancake Day

I completely forget about all the holidays in England!!

I missed "Fat Tuesday" (Pancake Day)....

I remember the English pancakes my mother used to make and now I realize why I got fat coming to America, English pancakes are American crepes. (i.e. a lot less calories and carbohydrates)

This used to be me, school uniform and all, and if I could remember it would be Baby C!

  1. I've never heard it called Fat Tuesday. You always learn something new blogging don't you.

You'd find it hard to forget about it here. It's always on telly, celebrity cooks seem to be coming up with new ideas all the time.

That looked like my grandson flipping those pancakes on Tuesday. We had a great laugh and he didn't drop any! We made lots after he came back from school and with the help of his little sister ate the lot! They enjoyed them so much they had them for tea again on Wednesday.

When I was little all we had was strawberry jam on them, these two love chocolate spread. If I ever eat them now I love fresh lemon juice and a little sugar on them.

Know what you mean about the difference between American and British pancakes. We once went on a cruise on an American ship and were recommended to order blueberry pancakes for breakfast. I nearly died when I saw them, I could only manage a few mouthfuls. They were like cakes and much too sweet for me, plus the thought of Maple syrup on them almost made me gag. There must have been a thousand calories in each one without the syrup. Next day I went back to the fresh fruit and Greek yoghurt!

  2. Oh, I do love pancake day. But I'm always glad it's only once a year because wow! lol! I ate a lot!
But back on the healthy eating plan today. I think Little C should still get her pankcakes, even if they are a little late. I love American pancakes, so thick and light, drizzled in syrup. However, our English pancakes are just the best. Lemon, Sugar. Cannot be beaten...or maybe it's just my fighting British spirit coming out! xx
