I remember taking the swim test with all my clothes on and my mother being so proud of me. But I don't remember getting a medal and I KNOW for a fact I was about 4 years older than my daughter when I took the test.
I stupidly let her wear sweat pants and they were sooooo super duper heavy when we were trying to ring the water out of them after the test. I felt bad and understood, after the fact, why she was so tired after doing just one lap.
I should have brought a pair of $2 target special leggins and a t shirt!
But she was really happy about her medal and boy did she work hard to get it too, she had to:
- Swim the entire length of the pool both ways with all her clothes on.
- She had to jump in and get out of the pool unassisted with all her clothes on.
- Do backstroke the entire length of the pool.
- Do elementary backstroke the entire length of the pool.
- Do freestyle the entire length of the pool, breathing to the side.
- Tread water for 3 minutes.
- Retrieve and item from the bottom of the pool.
- Pull her instructor to the side of the pool first using her arms, then using a safety net, and lastly using a flotation device.

ReplyDeleteI honestly don't even think I could complete all of those tasks. Way to go Big Girl C!!!
ReplyDeletethat is awesome! what a great swimmer :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Wow! I don't think I could do any of that but it's so important that children know how to swim. I just remember watching this episode of Oprah with Adam about dry drowning and right there and then, we swore that our kids would learn how to swim from a young age xx
