Ten on Tuesday

  1. Baby C had so much fun coming to work with me yesterday for "Take Our Daughters & Sons To Work Day" yesterday. I really enjoyed riding into work with her and riding home again. When we first got in the car the questions begun straight away and it all came flooding back the first 5 years of her life taking her to work with me.
After work we stopped at Starbucks. I got the green tea frappacino  (my favorite) and she got the decaf caramel ribbon crunch (her new favorite).

  2. We went to the Wandering Inn for dinner last night....we've heard many times how good the food is...plus they constantly sponsor Baby C school, so we figured why not support them back. Everyone stared at us when we walked in as if we'd stepped into the twilight zone. Normally I don't even notice people staring at me, I'm an oblivious walker when I go to the city. But this time I couldn't help but notice it along with the fact that we were the only people of color. But I'm glad to say that the staff  made us feel so welcome and the food was definitely WORTH RAVING about, HUGE Italian portions. I got Penne A La Vodka with grilled chicken that could have served all three of us with food left over.

  3. There's a new burger joint in town...and I'm addicted. It's called Burgerfi and it claims to be "all natural" and their quinoa burgers are to die for! (I have yet to try quinoa for breakfast like Oatmeal as suggest by Chrissy but I think I will)

  4. Did anyone watch all 3.5 hours of the Google I/O Keynote? I listened to it sporadically while at work the day it came out. I figured it was work related...I just wish I'd had the time to listen to all of it. I feel in love Google Play Music because of the keynote session. I created a playlist that reminded me of my first summer in New York, I created another one that reminded me of college, and yet another one of chill music that I simply love.

  5. Last Sunday was our first attempt at "Communication Night"...I think Big C was a little reluctant at first as I'm sure he thought it was going to be a "Wife B*tch Fest". But it ended up going really well, and we each have a list of small items to do for the week that normally would make it to a To Do List but never get done. So we'll see by next Sunday how the week went.

  6. I can't believe summer is fast approaching and I still haven't even planted a single vegetable. We even bought a composter back in the winter time because we got a coupon, so I'd really love to use it for our vegetable patch. Maybe with it being a long weekend and the weather is supposed to be nice we can get out into the backyard and get it together.

  7. I really wish we could get away this weekend. Even if it was a weekend at some random Marriott hotel in Maine. I'd just love to go somewhere. The only commitments we have this weekend are a BBQ and an Air Show neither of which would be too rude to decline. Alas we'll see!

  8. I took Baby C for her first official hair trim last Saturday. I usually just lop the ends myself with any pair of scissors and figure it's better than nothing. It's not like she wears it down in a style where it needs to be even. In this case African American hair is so different than Caucasian. My mother always told me that I needed to stop doing this as it would make her hair grow back thicker...and we all know she doesn't need for her hair to get ANY thicker. But of course the hair dresser had never heard that before so it left me questioning my mothers ulterior motive....mothers always have MOTIVES.

  9. I'm desperately trying to find a photo storage website to use. After so many people got ruined by Super Storm Sandy I want a back up to my external drive. I keep thinking about watching my external drive floating down the street god forbid we have another storm, and all my "potentially" scrap worthy pictures are gone forever.  While I love using Google+ Photos I noticed that it compresses files and never spits out my original when I click "download original" and I'm hesitant on their fine print that basically says "What's Yours Is Mine". I can see it now, a BIG old picture of Baby C being used during the next Super Bowl Commercial courtesy of an unknowing person.

If anyone's currently using a service and would recommend it I'd love to know. I've even googled photo storage comparisons and they all seem to cater to the "real photographer" who wants to show case their work...what about us poor Sandy victims who want to back up our lives in the cloud.

  10. Baby C makes me laugh. We finally realized that the level of reading that she's at now means we can't go to the library and pick up 14 books for the week. Chapter books take a lot longer than 5 minutes, so only one book is needed. These two books have been at her bedside for a while now. I laugh because they are 2 entirely different ends of the spectrum. I bet 1Direction and Obama would laugh if they saw it.

  11. I'm thinking about joining the gym again!! I clicked on a tag on instagram #crossfitmom and it made me feel so guilty and lazy. I'm sure once I join the gym my feelings won't change but still it's worth a chance.

  12. I'll end with a picture...Baby C last night when we went to buy a birthday present for a little boy in her class. Thank god as much as kids of todays age have changed they still at least do birthday parties!

  1. I've been using smugmug for some of my pictures. it's not free though. i pay $8 a month. They have different levels you can pay for but i think that storage is unlimited. you can store, share and buy prints all from the site. I've never purchased any prints, but everything else is nice about it. easy to use :)

  2. What a delight your closing picture was! Wish to goodness I could have been a little birdie and followed you and Baby C around at your workplace.

I think it's awesome that you have 5 yrs of memories of riding to work with her.
I love the idea of communication night AND b#%^*fest night. :)
I need photo storage, too! I'm thinking about something like Carbonite, but I've been thinking about it for years!

  4. Sorry why did people stare at you? Because of your colour or for some other reason? Surely it can't be because of your colour??
