Ultimately it means much sooner rather than later, I'll be sitting in that rocker, on the front porch swaying in the breeze with all my teeth gone, talking about how I USED to chew on a steak!!!
Last weekend the sun was beating down on the back of my neck and you couldn't have paid me and lied to me about it being October! But it was a fine day to go pumpkin picking at the farm that's for sure.
When I finally approached the entrance to the farm the scene was reminiscent of "Little People, Big World" when they started selling pumpkins on their farm and the police were called because the line was causing traffic jams for miles to come.
I thought we'd never see the front gate for hours but I quickly got tipped off to the fact that they were SOOO busy that they'd never had time to remove the "PARKING LOT FULL" sign and the parking lot to my immediate right had tons of spaces, so we were parked within minutes. Of course a "follow my lead" quickly ensued and said spaces were soon a distant memory!
But we had a wonderful time at the pumpkin patch this year....,starting with me rushing to the local Target to buy Baby C a change of clothes as the initial "north pole arctic weather outfit" just wasn't cutting it, but it all worked out in the end....
We went with our annual pumkin picking swimming buddy and took our annual picture at the entrance:
Took the customary picture ON the pumpkin:
And IN the pumpkins:
We actually did check out a few animals at the farm while we were there, he kind of looked a tad lonely. But I have no idea if a kangaroo is actually lone animal or if they prefer to travel in troops.
And while I'm thinking about it, "Do they have to get vias's for animals when they come over to the U.S. from other countries? Just wondered. There's really nothing in my head but hot air and random thoughts:
But aside from the animals, Baby C mostly had fun playing on anything her little feet could get onto:
Or INTO!!!! I thought the hay fight area was the best and most inexpensive creation of fun. I was surprised that she didn't leave with most of the hay adhered to her head!!
But I guess she did her princess hay fight this time around :
We found an entertaining clown, and while the kids found him hilarious, I found him needing a new career and lacking in humor!
The one thing I look forward to (besides the clowns retirement) is the annual "HAYRIDE!".
I'm not sure if it's because it's five minutes of peace, and majestic scenery or the mere fact that someone else is driving! Whatever the case I could stay on the tractor for a few times around the farm.
As usual Ms. Social Butterfly bumped into one of her friends from day care! It still amazes me with the hundreds of people at any of these given events they always seem to find each other (Easter Egg Hunt, Belmont Lake State Park 2009 again hundreds of people and they found each other!):
The customary picture of her trying to schlep pumpkins to and fro (that are obviously way too heavy for her) is always a treat, it's unbelievable how stubborn she is, hmm i wonder where she get it from!:
She finally got a clue and commandeered a wagon, I guess a childs brain ONLY grows as fast as they grow right??!
I don't know what it is about the picture of the back of a child pulling a wagon. It stirs up memories to me for some reason and I don't feel complete until I've captured that picture each year, (2009 Capture).
I have no idea how I get sucker punched into buying the BIGGEST pumpkins each year!! Don't they know you pay by WEIGHT!!!
PUT IT DOWN and back away from the pumpkin!!
We spun around that farm, like chickens without heads tying to get in all the activities the farm had from A-Z, then like silly dim wit parents that we are, we continued festivities back at the house, with the customary pumpkin carving:
But we were ALL very elated at the outcome, hence BAT-L AX carved pumpkins!:
I think as the day wound to an end, I came home with one of my favorite pictures of all time, it really captures my heart!:
Beautiful photo of beautiful children having so much fun at the punkin patch! I love it! Going to the patch with kids is the best. Even for the old folks...I'm not ready for that rockin' chair either!LOL
ReplyDeleteWe went to the punkin patch with two of our grands, last Sunday. I took photos of them, from behind. Drew was in the cornbox or whatever it is...sort of like a sandbox only with corn. He was filling a bucket with corn and dumping it out. The back of his head looked so sweet. Gabi's hair was french braided and looked so pretty I had to have a photo of the back of her head!
I suppose by now you've heard the Back Porch has a new address. I don't know what happened. Perhaps I forgot to pay a bill or something..and the back porch disappeared! By the time I figured out how to get it back, I had moved to typepad. I like it there. Looks a bit different, but I'm learning day by day.

You gotta stop with the pictures, you're seriously making me wanna have a baby right now! I actually just said to my husband, "I wanna have a baby". Oh, of course he just said "hmm" and carried on reading! lol!
ReplyDeleteYour daughter is super cute, those pictures display her personality perfectly. And she definately reads as a smart and sassy little daddies girl. Your family day out Pumpkin picking looked fun, we don't really do the whole halloween thing over here. Though last year we did pick up a few pumpkins from the store so that my husband could carve them with my nieces and nephew. They loved it, all except for scooping out the insides. BTW, do you do anything with the inside or just throw it out?
OK, so now that I've come across as completely crazy and baby obsessed, I'm expecting a ban from your journal. SO better quit whilst I'm behind! xx
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww love all the pics!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHey, just looking through your blog and noticed the picture of the kangaroo. He didn't look very happy or healthy, his bones seemed to stick out a lot. did the animals seem like they were well taken care of because he seemed to have patches on his fur. just wondering, i'm not a huge animal buff but I do enjoy watching a little APCA
