I kind of like this saying

"If you can read this, thank a teacher....and
since it's in English, thank a soldier."

I had to read it twice to get it...but when I got it a had to read it a third time just to smile.

  1. Just a wonderful quotation! My mom is a retired teacher, my best friend is a teacher, my sis in law was a teacher, I taught pre-school for years...teaching gets in your blood I guess! The love of kids...and learning.
As does the military! We are also a retired military family! The thought that people actually still appreciate what these brave men and women do is heartwarming. Thank you for that! It put a smile on my face.

  4. Yes, a wonderful quotation! I've heard that before--in fact, one of the teachers read it at my daughter's Veterans Day program at her school this year--and it is so true!
Hope you have a wonderful New Year's celebration!!!

Sorry, but there are lots of people in the world, who even if they can read it in english are not going to thank the soldiers that led to that being possible.

Soldiers only have something to do with my reading in english in the sense that in an imperial war at the end of the 19th century, the island of my people switched ownership from an old imperial power to a newer one.

And this isn't meant as a dig at soldiers, because I know they are doing their duty, and lots of people believe they are doing the right thing when sent abroad, it is meant to point out that that saying seems to justify the evil crap our country has done in the name of spreading its values and defending its own.

    Peace.
