I want a healthy balance of sun and educational stimuli, I'm going to find websites to support some of the tests she'll have in 2nd Grade just to get her familiar with the question formatting and not the actual right answers.
I still hate my job and I've come to realize that while the actual company is a very nice place to work and while my co workers are young but nice the fault actually lies with me and my resentment to actual have to work when I'd rather spend the summer with Baby C trapsing the city visiting museums.
Baby C is on punishment with no tv for an entire month. She came home on red (does every elementary school do the traffic light system?) for passing a mean note in school. She said she wrote the note to a girl who is mean to her in school and that the note stated "Me, Friend A, Friend B and Friend C do not like you Classmate A because you are mean!".
Baby C's mean note wayed heavy on my mind all night as I prepared dinner, which by the way was Strawberry BBQ Chicken Club Sandwich with Bacon, Avocado and Goat Cheese and Cashew Chicken Mango Salad.

Baby C reminds me of that sour patch commercial, "sweet one minute and sour the next", it's so disheartening it really is. I felt bad for the classmate A even if Baby C has come home on numerous occasions complaining that the girl is mean to her.
I felt bad because I wish Baby C would understand that "Killing with Kindness" is such a better approach than giving "Meanness back to Meanness".
This morning as she left I asked her once again to think before she acts "Ask herself if the action she is about to commit to is something she'd like done to herself. If she wouldn't mind it being done to her then go ahead and do it, if she wouldn't like it done to her then stop and don't do it."
That unfortunately wasn't the end of my night, I then found out that she cut a chunk of her hair out as well. It was all braided and one of the braids came undone (lie right there her braids don't unravel by themselves) and it was sticking up so she decided to just cut it off! Ughhh if I had a red light system at home she'd have 2 red lights last night I swear!
AND THEN of course she gives me that end of year mini report card that tracks her comprehension, vacobulary, phonics, study skills and something else I don't recall and of course she got the highest grade in EVERY SINGLE area. Not even one point below perfect! Ughhhhhh usually a parent can use a bad report card as appropriate rhetoric as to why she needs to spend less time being mean and cutting hair and more time on her grades!!!
My to do list as usual is out of control...
- 4 graduation gifts
- 3 teachers gifts
- find online Iowa testing sites
- do a vinegar cycle on the washing machine and dishwasher
- call the bank to find out where that $90 random deposit came from
- go over my credit report print out
- switch over Baby C's closet before she dies wearing a turtle neck to summer camp next week
- buy the neighbor a new baby gift
- write a reference letter for a friend
- I need to get the Girl Scout store and get a "Memorial Day Parade" patch for Baby C for marching in the parade with her classmates and also representing Girl Scouts by wearing her vest!
Oh I nearly forgot my old waffle maker broke about a year ago now...so I broke down and bought a KitchenAid Waffle Maker like this one --->
I'm hoping to make a some what healthier version of "Cake Mix Waffles"
I'd like to add pictures to this blog post so I'm not sure if all the references to "tonight", "tomorrow" and "last night" will really apply but hey who's watching! :)

No tv for an entire month??? I want to throw a tantrum for Baby C :-( lol but I like that you gave her that thought process, if you wouldn't mind it done to you go ahead, she'll remember that. And that dinner you made looks TOO good. I keep saying I'm going to get a waffle iron I just can't think of putting one more thing on that counter.
ReplyDeleteWhew chile...don't I know about the ups and downs of my princess. Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde. Will be the death of me.
ReplyDeleteNo TV for a month would drive me crazy moreso than the kids. The waffle recipe looks fantastic. DS has a waffle maker and is always looking for new ideas.
ReplyDeleteWell my daughter didn't write it but she yelled at one of the mean girls at school: "I don't like you and I'm going to tell all my friends not to like you either." I wish I could remember what I did about it. The girl was definitely a bully and I actually think I was glad my daughter spoke up for herself. Oh dear, today my daughter may have been suspended from school.
ReplyDeleteOh kids, I have to say that as much as I agree with you, sometimes a child does need to stand up to a mean child because otherwise they get bullied. Being sweet and kind is great, but often it's that kind of child that gets bullied. I won't mention what my two daughters have done over the years!
ReplyDeleteOk one thing ... my older daughter cut all her hair off one day! That day is etched in my brain forever!
Baby C's hair! I had to let out a little giggle about that. I pulled a similar act when I was in elementary school.
ReplyDeleteI'm in the market for a waffle maker! Let me know how that one works out for ya.
A couple of your comments had me laughing. One, where you repeated the words on the note. Too funny. Your daughter added clarity towards her thoughts concerning the child being mean to her and her friends. And the commenting where you stated, "Hey, at least he cooked." I hear that a lot myself. Lol.
ReplyDeleteMy kids would have gone bonkers with no tv for a month! I love, love, love my waffle iron. Keeps me from ordering the waffle from IHop now. lol
