You have to first understand something, for our house to work like a well oiled machine we all need to rise to the occasion at 6AM when the alarm FIRST goes off...C gets the shower first, and then while he's pruning and picking I get the shower next and it carries on from there...when he's done in the bathroom he packs the sandwiches into the lunch bags and you get the jest.
So it's 6:21AM and we're all sleeping like bumps on a log, so that's already a bad start to the day...and it only goes down hill from there...I try to get into the shower and breast milk starts dripping from you know where (sorry to gross anyone out but there you have it), so I have to get out of the shower and pump!! I get dressed and I have the wrong underwear on under my “WHITE” linen pants (white’s the operative word here folks)...so for all the females reading this, you know what a catastrophe that is and for all the males reading, you too know what I mean as you guys stare so hard you’ll nearly go cross eyed!! So I have to undress and correct that mess, though I'm already running late. I'm finally dressed and C is walking out the door for work (he has to leave earlier than I do and his day seems to be just fine thus far), then Baby C decides she hungry and I still need to feed the Bonkers (the cat). Well how in the world can I feed the cat before Baby C???? I look at the clock and it's 7:31AM.
SIDENOTE: In order for me to get to work without driving like a bat out of hell, I need to LEAVE my neighborhood and be on the highway AT 7:30AM...and here I am with two hungry people (yes Bonkers is a person) one of which still needs to be dropped off at her god parents for the day before I can even attempt to get on the highway!!! You’re getting my drift aren’t you!
I throw my hands in the air and say "You know what rushing isn't going to get me anywhere any faster!" So I take a deep breath, sit down and feed baby C slowly taking time to smile at her, burp her and talk to her. I finally feed the cat and head out the door.
Well of course once I get into the car, it's hurry, hurry, hurry and all that calm disposition goes out the window. As I get to a green light the person in front of me doesn't move and a end up rear end him!!!
Aggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!

The Mercedes pulls over and I reluctantly pull along behind him all the while wishing I was one of the people that don't give a frig that can just drive off like I didn’t just hit a great big school bus of a vehicle. But anyway, as I pull up behind him, I don't see ANY damage to his car (hooray), so now all I have to do is worry about the disposition of the driver, is he/she an over inflated jack a** or is he "cool beans" (as I would say). Well he turned out to be cool beans and said he didn't see any damage and we both went on our merry ways...well merry for at least one of us!!! I finally get baby C to her god parents...rush onto the highway...or what I thought was the highway and I see it's been converted in a parking lot!! Yeah nothings moving, a see of read prevails.
I finally get to work...JUST on time (not that the new job would have given a hide nor hair had I been a few minutes late, but you don't want to push your luck being the newbie. As C would say "you never know who's watching!"(He thinks everyone's watching him, I know he'll go senile before I do that’s for sure).
So I sit down at my desk, boot up the beast called a computer and get to work on something that's due by 3PM today but I feel confident as I started it Monday and did 80% of the work so I'm good to go...RIGHT?? WRONG....I open the darn file and none of my changes are there? Where are they? You know that feeling where you start opening all the files you have assuming that you just opened the wrong one to begin with, but you know in your heart of hearts that you didn't open the wrong one but you still hope a miracle will occur in between File>Open.
Well no miracle occurred...all my changes were "kaput", gone, vanished or not saved when, during that mad rush on Wednesday at 5PM, when that stupid dialogue box popped up on screen asking me if I wanted to save and I got cocky and told it "NO" as I just knew I had saved it already.

SIDENOTE: PhotoShop does that, even if it thinks you made the SLIGHTEST change or if you’ve saved something from a psd to a gif and didn't make any further changes...it sill asks if you want to save it AGAIN…(you design, web people reading this know JUST what I'm talking about.) It catches you off guard every time and you're scared you maybe moved the mouse just ONE pixel over by mistake so you hit NO as you know the last time you saved everything was GOOD!!!
So it's 9:30 I have 3 hours to do all the work I did Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday...so what do I do? Yeah that's right instead of getting straight to work I check email not work email mind you oh no personal email!!! Yep that’s right…I’ve got all my priorities in check. Now mind you I have like 5 personal email accounts, so this usually takes a while!! But I said to h*ll with it...the day didn't start out right but, I'm sure as heck going to make it go right from here on out and the day always starts for me with coffee and email so that's what it's going to be!!!!
I think that “to h*ll with it” attitude worked, as it's 1:30 and I'm done with the new file and I'm posting a blog entry, so either it went well or I'm just plan stupid and even though this job is a slice of heaven I'm trying to get fired already! I know people that would do this, so don't laugh LOL

ReplyDeleteyeah,, a pretty busy day girl, wow, what a wreck!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, what can I say at this point? Let's just say I'm glad you made it through a day such this. I think that would've been a day to call in sick :-). You've done well! :-)
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, that is quite a start to an extremely busy day. Is everyday like that? I'm glad that you and baby C are alright though.
