He hasn't actually left yet, but when I get home the house will be empty if he lost his fight to stay.
They did a canvas asking for volunteers first then after that if they didn't get enough volunteers they were forcing people based on reverse seniority.
They told them at 2pm Monday afternoon that they were to pull out Tuesday at 8 am. I think even the military gets a more advanced warning than that don't they!!!!
The union got them a one day reprieve and they were supposed to leave today. Which is why if the house is empty when I get home I'll know if he won the fight or not.

There was I thinking I was miss independent and how i didn't need Big C for anything but the recycling and the trash!!! Tuesday morning when we thought he first had to leave I came out of the shower in tears because the water wasn't getting hot!!! All I could think about was how I don't know how to fiddle with the pipes and knobs down in the basement to make the water hot, and how can I bath Baby C in cold water.
Luckily Big C was there to comfort me and let me know that the water was indeed hot but it was taking it's time to heat up because we were up way earlier than normal and the timer wasn't set for piping hot water at 5:30 am!!!
I have no idea if he'll even be able to come home for Thanksgiving and if he can who the heck can afford a last minute Thanksgiving ticket!! Knowing his company they'll tell them the night before Thanksgiving if they can go home or not!!! They've already told them they have to pay their own tolls to get up to Buffalo and that they'll get reimbursed!! Lord know how long that will take, paper work always seems to get lost in cooperate America!
I don't know why a company in this day and age thinks you just have money laying around to pay $40 in tolls even if they claim they'll reimburse you later. That's lunch money for a week!!! Heck that's a pair of shoes on sale at DSW!!! LOL

Big C just found out last Monday that all the pain he's been feeling in his legs and ankles was due to arthritis!! He's too young for arthritis damn it.
Then I googled arthritis and found out that 50% of people with diabetes (he got diagnosed with diabetes about a year ago) have arthritis too!! WHO would have though it, it seems that some things just come in pairs!!!
Poor thing was trying to fight going to Buffalo based on the fact that even his chiropractor say that driving for extended periods of time will make his progress relapse. Even if he stopped every 2 hours to break the trip up it's going to take him forever to get up there.

I know I shouldn't have put all my business out there like this but the old saying is true...it feels so much better when you talk about it.
Big C says he's going to play the video of Baby C counting in Spanish over and over again....so I'll have to give him daily videos and pictures to keep his spirits up.
Plus he took the laptop with him so he'd better use the damn thing anyway!
Aww hon. I'm sorry. Things are just so darned difficult right now. Hope all works out. DS and I can drive you nuts for 30 days if you need us to. ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh man that DOES suck. I hate being forced into shit by corporate america too but sometimes it pays to be the old dog and sometimes it doesn't. :(
ReplyDeleteYou are a strong woman, you will be okay. I just hope he makes it home for Turkey Day and that he isn't too uncomfortable driving.
Thanks for the comments re: Aunt Barb. You totally GOT my post!
Yes, she was buried in her pajamas. She said she wanted to be comfortable if she was going to be sleeping for all eternity. I kid you not!
oh man! I'm so sorry!! I can't believe they didn't give any more of a warning! What about single parents? what would they have done? I mean, the way everything is now you gotta be blessed to have a job, but dang that just seems ridiculous. I sure hope the time passes quickly for you!!!
ReplyDeletemakes me think about the adage Uncle Sam Wants You! and, as we all know, what he wants, he gets. No questions asked. I love to read blogs where bloggers air it out. It's all about the mental stimulation, far as I'm concerned.
ReplyDeleteGood read.
That's funny about the hot water. My thought is always, "Who will open the jelly jar when Sean deploys?" It makes me cry just thinking about it.
ReplyDeleteI hope these 30 days go by super fast for you!
