Ten On Tuesday

  1. I'm reading "The Memory Keepers Daughter" and I'm so anxious to know what happens, though parts seem slow.

  2. The weathers taken a permanent turn for the better we got to walk on the beach after dinner last week.

  3. Chrissy has me obsessed about Dr. Mercolas Newsletter.
Excerpt: "REAL Food "Lives" and "Dies: I recently commented on the curious ability of McDonald's food to remain impervious to degradation. It's as if the food has been embalmed to stay "fresh" forever! After sitting on a shelf for 14 years, the hamburger bun has yet to develop a single trace of mold. It's barely even begun to shrivel..."
None the less... we haven't even eaten McDonalds since reading this, yes I'm easily influenced Big C tells me that daily, but this one I don't mind being influenced on.

  4. Pursuant to Dr. Chrissy and Dr. Mercolas we expanded our vegetable garden on Saturday from a plot the size of my computer monitor, to a plot the size of my car, we spent the better part of Saturday ripping all the grass out and planting all our veggies.

  5. My body still aches to the point that when I walk I just shuffle my feet as it hurts too much to fully lift each foot. My wrists hurt, my forearms hurt, my biceps, triceps, and all other "ceps" hurt.

  6. I know my pain will subside in about two more days and yet I think to myself this is the kind of pain Big C lives with from sun up to sun down. I ♥ him even more.
  7. He might be in pain but he's still vain enough  to be the only one taking pictures of himself at the beach!
  8. We missed the Banana Republic "Buy Two Get One Free" event on Saturday as we were too worn out after gardening. We were both bummed that we missed it, to the point that Big C even called the store the very next day, just in case, they'd extended it and forgot to tell us!

  9. I just realized that I'm totally influencing Baby C into an 80's dressing kid...I need to stop and let her feel her own style more. I think I was apprehensive she'd go the whole princess route or 100% tomboy like I was as a child.
  10. She reminds me of Cyndi Lapuer in "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"
  11. I just found this "Summer Fun Chart" which I am too excited to try.
  12. I think our house is obsessed with rice alternatives, bulgar, quinoa, orzo or couscous. The orzo and couscous aren't really the most healthy alternatives but the glycemic index is slightly lower than white rice, and I can't seem to cook brown rice, be Uncle Bens or not!

  1. Dr. Mercola was the beginning of my food insanity. We now eat 90% locally grown. We only eat what God gave us. NO processed foods, whatsoever. If bugs/bacteria won't eat it, why should we? Animals won't eat fake plants, yet humans suck in doritos and other processed foods without batting an eyelash. Once you start looking into the crap on the shelves, you can't help but be influenced for the GOOD. Just look at all the diseases that stem from our food source! :)

Anyways, glad you're easily influenced. Like me. :D

  2. I heard about that food experiment. But given I've found french fries still in perfect form in my car after several months, I believe it!

I'd love to see a picture of the garden so far. Are you doing raised boxes or in the ground?

  3. Chrissy is a good influence, isn't she? ha! Seriously though..I don't know about you, but when I was doing WW...it almost forces you to eat more 'fake' food. Like low fat cheese...they take out some of the real fat, but then replace it with fake stuff so it will still 'taste' like cheese. Something is just not right about that with my brain. Also, those sandwich thins? I have some in my cupboard that I swear are at least 6 months old. I refuse to throw them out. Why? Because THERE IS NO MOLD ON THEM. After 6 months they are still soft, and mold free. How can that be?! So it's my little science experiment. How long will it take?
So, I'm totally on the real food kick too. If God made it, it has to be good, right? Everything in moderation. :)
