- We went out for the 2nd time in 5 years on Friday. We got there at 8:30pm everyone else got there at 11:30pm....like I said it's been a while.
- All the little veggies are sprouting up nicely indoors. I ventured out back to see how they're doing there, with all the rain we've been having I haven't had a need to water them.
- Big C bought a plant light for the budding beauties at night time and they seem to love it, constantly doubling their size over night. It took Big C three trips to Home Depot to get the light, echoing the statement..."If you want something done properly do it yourself"...but I love him all the same, and I'm sure he appreciates the light that much more!
- I made Slow Cooker Red Beans and Barley for Sunday dinner, while Big C was gone all day, the house smelt soooo good all day, when Big C finally came home I was so excited, until he announced he doesn't like barley but he'll still try it. I have no idea why I never knew he didn't like barley....but yet I can give you a laundry list of other things he doesn't like.
- I feel like I'm often repeating myself between facebook and blogger, but then I realize most of the people on facebook don't even know I have a blog (and I'd like to keep it that way)....facebook needs an "acquaintance" button along side that "friends" button.
- I'd normally go to the Waldbaums our regular grocery store for all the produce for the weeks meals, but this Sunday I went to the "Grown on Long Island" section of Wild by Nature and got everything. I felt all warm and fuzzy inside seeing it sprawled across the kitchen counter, even if my pockets were bare.
- Do you have any idea how hard it is to find "slow cook" barley or just barley for that matter, I was surprised that our Trader Joe's didn't carry it.
- I'm picking up red snapper for this recipe "Roasted Snapper Fillet and Sustainable Seafood for dinner tomorrow, I'll let you know how it is...
- Does anyone else use the schedule option on blogger, for rambling ideas that you get late at night but you want to proof read it in the morning so you don't look like you dropped out of school at 2nd grade??? I use it all the time, for example I actually wrote this post yesterday!!
- I'm hating blogger right now...it doesn't want to put the pictures where I want them and it doesn't want to put extra spaces in between my list items like I keep telling it to and if they didn't have the "Edit HTML" button I think I'd quit!!!

1. I know that feeling!
ReplyDelete2. That's so exciting! We had greenbeans from our garden last night. They tasted extra delicious knowing I grew them!
3. I have never had barley. Ever. I feel challenged to go find it and make some now. :) On Facebook, search "Networked Blogs." You can register your blog and every time you post on here, it links it up on FB and your friends can read and comment there. :)
4. Warm and fuzzy and HEALTHY, right? I do notice that eating real food is more expensive for each individual item. However, and it's a big however, I think you save money tenfold in the long run. For one, you save money on meds b/c of the health implications of eating crap. For two, your food world shrinks. Meaning, where you used to buy a bag of chips+crackers+oreos+other processed foods, you now buy just ONE replacement that makes up for all of them. Like, I used to buy 2 or 3 bags of different kinds of chips every shopping trip. Now I just buy tortilla chips. And actually THEY are cheaper than the doritos!
5. I so wish I had a TJ's close by. :(
6. YUM!
7. It's under post options at the bottom, before you hit publish. Fish around down there and you'll find it. You just enter whatever date/time you want.
8. I can't stand it when it jams all my points together. HA! Danged free program. :)
Somehow I just got 8 points...oh well, I think I hit all the high points. :)
* i know the feeling too. I don't even think i know what 'going out' means anymore!
ReplyDelete* YAY!
* that sounds really yummy. could you have done it with brown rice instead of barley maybe? or did he end up liking the barley anyway? and as for facebook--yeah, it's kinda why i don't post my blog there.
*i can not wait till our garden starts producing actual food. :) and I'm looking forward to our local farmers market starting up here in a few weeks.
* I love TJ's! I'm a total convert. But I spend way too much and still buy things I don't need there just because they look good or sound good LOL!
* I wish i was a fish person.
* I have used the schedule feature every now and then. But mostly, I'm not a disciplined enough blogger to do it!
* and yep, blogger is annoying. every time i upload pictures, i use the HTML feature. It's the only way I can get them where I want them. But you still have to cut and paste. it's super annoying. you'd think they'd figure out an easier way to do it.
-I've only recently been adding my blog posts to my fb page. Let's just say I did some serious tweening first to my fb "friends" page and basically unless I really like you- you've been "defriended".
ReplyDeleteI think I have about 5-10 people left to cut.
-I hate blogger...it's just worth the $10 per month to have typepad to me. Good luck though.
I just started using the scheduled post option. I have a few posts scheduled right now. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe next time you cook barley invite us over and you and Ron can eat the red beans and barley and I will bring red beans and rice for me and Big C.
ReplyDeleteI think this 10 on Tuesday was a cheat simply because it was written early and you used two points to talk about blogger! lol!
ReplyDeleteI'm most certainly a fan of "if you want something done right..." I guess I'm just too tightly wound to let go of control. It is a bad habit. And I think its just the male way to not listen to instrutions. Adam and I actually have our own version of "I told you so" because I get to say it so often! Goodness I'm mean. But you're right, we love them just the same.
Now is Baby C the reason why you two haven't been out in 5 years? Should I get all my partying out before I think about starting a family? xx
