Day 12 How you found out about Blogger and why you made one

Oh boy these questions are really making me relive my life!

Let me think for a minute......

Years ago Big C sat down to read one of his multitude of comics and I looked at him cross eyed. I thought to myself, only kids read comics! (Little did I know, Comic-Con is anything but for kids).

I remember poking fun at him for resembling a kid with his little stack of comics, and he poked back at the fact that, he at least had a hobby.

Those few moments made me take a really long look at myself! I didn't have any kids back then, I was an only child so I didn't have any nieces or nephews, and he was right I surely didn't have a hobby.

It was kind of sad how long and hard I thought about "What makes me happy?"

At the end of the day when I come home from a long days work what do I do for me time?

I honestly did nothing.

And so I went on a quest to find a hobby, I mean I made a full time job out of it, trying to find something I could call "My Hobbby". I scoured the internet looking for anything to peek my interest.

I even went into CVS and picked up a bunch of random magazines trying to see what might interest me.

Finally I found myself gravitating towards the Scrapbooks Etc magazine, and then I moseyed over to Two Peas in a Bucket and instantly became hooked on the NSBR Message Board I think I spent days over there, jumping from post to post as if my life depended on it.

I slowly realized that 1. Some of the women on there were really really mean, and 2. Some of them were really cool chics that I'd started to build a relationship with and I noticed all these links on their profile pages to their blogs....

Oh boy, oh boy, the game was over once I started to read people blogs....I was FASCINATED!

To me it was REAL "Reality TV" on Steroids!

I remember wanting to reply to a post on a blog of a "newly" found friend, but I needed an account to leave a comment....and that's how my own blog was born!!!

I remember I'd created my blog in November merely in order to leave a comment on someone elses blog and it wasn't until the following January that I finally wrote my FIRST post.

I recall; doing every game that came my way, every tag that I'd been tagged in, reading every blog that I clicked on even if they never visited my blog, sending the link to all my family and friends thinking they'd be interested in the daily goings on, thinking this thing is better than email in regards to getting a message out to the masses, having a blog roll that stretched way too far and feeling guilty when I just didn't feel like blogging.

So here we are 5 years later, I feel I've learnt so much, expressed myself in every way known to man, and made so many friends and acquaintances.

If I ever stop blogging, I look forward to getting the entire thing printed and bound and leaving it for my family in a dusty old box up in the attic to they can one day get a little peek into my crazy head!!!

I'm doing 30 days of blogging challenge! this is day 12, see the rest here.

  1. funny, my blog pretty much started off the same way...only not on Two Peas, but the CKMB. I think Jude was the very first blog I ever read on a regular basis. I stalked her for months before finally leaving a comment! LOL!
PS. I had no problem clicking over form Google Reader today.

  2. Great post! I never figured myself for a blogger. People kept asking me when I was going to start blogging. I figured I didn't have anything to say!

  3. Yours will make a wonderful book and what a legacy for your family. I started blogging when my goddaughter said, "You should have a blog" and I didn't even know what a blog was. If she said I needed one, the I needed one.

  4. Oh I always think about having my blogs printed and bound. And you're right, I love the online community that you're in. I don't know anyone in my "real world" who has a blog. And often, I feel closer to my online friends than I do my in person friends.

So glad you started blogging xx
