Gymboree Time!

So I signed baby C up for a free class at Gymboree to see if we both like it. I decided it's time we branch out and do some mommy and me stuff!!! It's either that or wake up every other Saturday with Big C at 7AM, then drive an hour to pick up my step daughter A, then drive another 30 mins to take her to dance class then to sit in the car for 5 hours while she's in dance class!!! (They don't really want you watching while they dance and who can really watch a dance class for 5 hours to begin with. I could do 1-2 hours then I'm done!). This is what Big C does every other Saturday and while it was fun the first time we went I figured I could spend the time doing something more instrumental with baby C even if her daddy can't get involved. I realized being a step parent, that there are going to be many times like this where time is divided. I figure baby C will either cling to me as the familiar or run to daddy as she misses the unfamiliar.

So we have a free class this Saturday and it starts at 12:45 so we don't have to wake up until at least 10AM!!!! Yeah...I hate waking early on a Saturday if I don't have to. It's everyone's god given right to sleep in if they wish on a Saturday isn't it???

I hope we like it...and I hope it's not that expensive if we want to sign up for the real thing....Kansas Queen says she doesn't see the point and that baby C could jump up and down on the bed at home for a lot less!! LOL So we shall see!!!

  1. How you gonna put me out there like that? I still stand by my comment. Lay a blanket on the floor and use one of the books I sent you about baby exercises and see if Gymboree doesn't do the same thing. Plus she will get a kick out of watching you try the same tumbling and balancing moves. My girls love when I try regardless of how crazy I look!

  3. Don't worry about trying to schedule things for you to do with Courtney. I think playing at home and hanging out with Mom and Dad is a wonderful thing to do. At Courtney's age, the quality time, in my opinion, is the time you get to hang out together without a schedule. No "it's time to go.. it's time to leave... it's time to meet so and so". NEVER feel badly about having a completely unscheduled weekend. I recall how Rachel and Diana loved it when I'd be doing laundry and I'd pull out a a warm towel and gently toss it over their head. Ahhhh. Fresh warm towels. They'd walk around in a dazed pleasure, inside the magic cave of heat. Kids find their imagination in unstructured moments of discovery. You just need to give that kind of time. No special play group. Just share your everyday world with her.
